Nurse Practioners

Supervised by, and working in collaboration with, the physicians of Mid-Atlantic Cardiothoracic Surgeons, Ltd., the Sentara Cardiothoracic Nurse Practitioners participate in the care of cardiac and thoracic surgery patients at Sentara Heart Hospital.   While hospitalized, cardiothoracic surgical patients are seen on a daily basis by the NPs as well as their surgeon.  Once discharged, patients are seen by a nurse practitioner in the Cardiac Surgery Clinic or Thoracic Surgery Clinic in approximately two weeks.  In the interim, the nurse practitioners are available to discuss questions you may have regarding your postoperative recovery.
